Sealants

A sealant is a clear or shaded plastic material that the dentist will apply to the back teeth’s chewing surfaces. This is where tooth decay is most prevalent. By placing a dental sealant over the teeth and creating a smooth surface that’s easy to brush, we can protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth from the food and germs that cause decay.

Sealants should be placed on the back teeth as soon as they erupt, which usually occurs between the ages of six and twelve. If you have any questions about sealants or preventive dentistry, please call Taunton Oral Health Center today.
